Internal
Audit

Internal Auditing for Food Suppliers

Workshop Overview

The maintenance of good standards of food safety, integrity and hygiene is dependant, in part, on regular and critical self assessment of the factory operational standards and practices. The effectiveness of these audits is highly dependent on the competence and ability of the auditor.

This 1-day workshop is designed to provide your internal auditors with an experienced understanding of auditing techniques and their application. Unlike most classroom based audit courses, the focus of this workshop is on demonstrating effective methods to challenge factory standards of food safety, GMP and hygiene though practical application.

The day is delivered via a mixture of workshop based discussions, power point presentations and most importantly, practical exercises on your factory floor, where delegates are expected to apply and discuss their new skills by actually auditing against site procedures.

On completion of the workshop, each delegate will have become familiar with the best practice principles of auditing techniques and have the grounding to understand and contribute much more effectively to an internal audit programme, helping to improve and drive compliance to the standards of the operation.

GMP

Good Manufacturing Practice for Food Suppliers

Workshop Overview

Clearly understood and applied good manufacturing practices are important to ensure on-going food safety, quality and legality as well as the protection of brand and business integrity. To implement and maintain a proactive and positive staff culture towards GMP requires consistent and ongoing enforcement, which needs to be both understood and supported at all levels within the company.

This 1-day workshop is designed to provide your team with an increased awareness of what good and bad manufacturing practice in the factory environment looks like and to help them become more focused and questioning of the everyday standards around them.  The focus is designed to encourage a proactive approach to identifying and working as a team to resolve areas where standards and attitudes towards GMP might be improved or need maintaining and promote an attitude of ‘continuous improvement’.

The day is delivered via a mixture of workshop based discussions, power point presentations and most importantly, practical exercises on your factory floor, where delegates are expected to apply and discuss their new awareness by reviewing site GMP application and effectiveness. This culminates in the generation of their own departmental action plan designed to begin to improve GMP standards and the staff culture within the business.

Who should attend?

  • Internal Auditors

  • Management representatives (including Technical, Quality, Hygiene, Operations and Engineering)

  • Members of the sites Training and Hygiene departments

  • Supervisors and those with Quality Assurance responsibilities.

  • Any staff member with GMP or enforcement responsibilities

Workshop content

  • Looking through an ‘Auditors Eye’ and increasing staff awareness

  • What good GMP standards look like

  • Implications of bad GMP

  • Integrating more focused GMP awareness into your every day role

  • Observed factory walk through and GMP review by the delegates

  • Action plan generation for each person within their areas of responsibility to improve upon or maintain current  GMP standards (to show site management commitment, this should ideally be presented back with a site Senior Manager present)
